As part of the Global Junior Challenge event, Rome will also host the Smart&Heart Cities initiatives together with the Knowledge Society Forum (KSF), two great international events that are connected by a single fundamental issue: civic, social and technological innovation.
The Global Junior Challenge is an international competition that rewards the innovative use of technology for 21st century education and social inclusion. Promoted by Roma Capitale, the competition is organized by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale under the high patronage of the Italian Presidency. It serves as a unique opportunity to reflect on the challenges posed by the 21st century in terms of innovation in didactics, integration, sustainable development and the reduction of world poverty.
The “Smart&Heart Cities” initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Eurocities Consortium, which brings together over 100 European cities, including Rome. And Rome will host of the 2015 edition of the Knowledge Society Forum and the Forum PA. The objective of the initiative is to support public administration in guaranteeing the civic participation of citizens through ICT. The City of Rome, with the support of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, has chosen to promote the use of ICT for aware citizenship and is hosting the KSF that will focus on the theme of “Smart & Heart Cities.” The Smart & Heart Cities Conference, with Italian and foreign guests, has been organized in collaboration with the ForumPA and will focus on initiatives and activities that promote a culture of innovation and inclusive, civic participation.
The objective of the conference is to showcase virtuous examples by public and private institutions that can stimulate and mobilise energy, resources and the passions of citizens on projects that can bring true digial innovation to public authorities.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Public administrations, public and private institutions, companies, associations, agencies, cooperatives, professors, students, start-uppers and innovative citizens who wish to showcase their social and civic innovation projects. The call is an open challenge to all!
ADMISSIBLE PROJECTS
All active projects that include a minimum of technology are admissible. These initiatives can participate in the Global Junior Challenge and/or be showcased at the Smart&Heart Cities International Conference as a best practice of social innovation and civic participation. HOW TO ATTEND THE SMART&HEART CITIES CONFERENCE
To participate in the international conference and present a project, you will have to send a brief description of your project and your CV to f.delduca@monfodigitale.org by September 10, 2015. The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will evaluate the projects and select the best practices for the conference.
GLOBAL JUNIOR CHALLENGE 2015 EXHIBITION
Projects will be showcased during the final event of the Global Junior Challenge (October 28-30, 2015) that will be held at the Istituto comprensivo “Viale dei Consoli 100” in Rome.
